In torrential rain, this re-imagined chesterfield arrangement of gargantuan proportions returned home; nimbly conveyed by @ross_removals and his trusty sidekick; up slippy steps, through a narrow doorway, past a busy kitchen and round the Christmas tree

My work seems light compared to that, I only re-webbed, re-sprung, re-foamed, re-covered, re-cushioned, re-feeted, and fluted

A great example of just how reupholstering can work for you; this sofa’s shape and size suited the family and space, but there were some ‘tweeks’ that could make it perfect – smoothing out the buttons, adding taller legs, including back cushions and fluting the arms outside panels for a little style twist :)

The colour is ‘battleship’, but in my opinion it should be renamed ‘elegance’, ‘opulence’, ‘magnificence’ or ‘grace’

From Little Miss Average to Captain Classy; a dashing transmogrification

Devilish devising and conscientious carving has produced pattern matches a plenty and such snug arm-caps you’ll have to strain your eyes to see them

A limited amount of original fabric meant mucho maths, careful cutting and absolutely no margin for error; the pressure was intense, the result was worth it.

It’s not all massive and complicated, small and simple need love too

-but that wasn’t always the case; this sixties classic has had dark days in de doldrums, lacking in support with only a flimsily lifeless bit of hessian to lean on

Buried beneath a botanical blur, the curvaceous contours of this classic ‘statesman’ were recreated; tailored and hand tacked covers machined and fitted snugly over the undulations with the cushions buttoned into place – now ready for a spin

A dearly departed mum’s favourite chair has renewed verve with stylish new threads

There once was a traditional Victorian sofa all tattered and torn,
with a broken frame, looking so forlorn;
in the middle of the night with the star’s shining bright the elves got to work with much delight.

They clamped and glued, braced and screwed and saved the sofa from being banished to the tower (at the recycling centre).

8 years henceforth…

All was good for Vic (as that was they/their name)
until it wasn’t (such a shame),
the old injury recurred, they’d taken a beating,
-something had to be done with this collapsing seating.

Off to the ladyshed (definitely a she) for reinforcement, strengthening and a joist or three,
now substantially secured all sturdy and stout,
fitted with modern materials (suitable for contemporary living) there’s no doubt.

A whirl and a twirl of a fabulous wool,
and buttons a plenty, a finish so cool.

Now run lovely Vic, skip and make hay,
– apologies there, getting carried away ….

Fagged and flagging with a fusillade of flying feathers, this old Darling needed a fair bit of help; reimagined in a surprisingly practical family friendly fabric and emboldened with a cluster of jazzy jungle joy

This mini marvel was decidedly dated and totally tired with crumbling foam and decomposing webbing – a twist of the wrist & a flurry of vivid velvets reveal an uncomplicated burst of undiluted colour

Not everyone wants a massive transformation; sometimes, just the same is perfect- similar fabric found and contrast piping made from off cuts of the original, new fillings all round and seriously stiff skirts give these sisters a subtle, understated uplift

Formally unused, faded and gathering dust in a garage, this asymmetrical studio wawa chaisette (made up word) – generously donated by Alison Cobb of St Albans – has been swathed in luxurious velvets aplenty and gleams with an effervescent brilliance thanks to the benevolence of both @blackpopuk & @linwood_fabric

From little ladysheds, tremendous transformations grow; this colossal corner sofa has undergone a glamorous glow-up featuring a zippy, zesty ztripe over classic navy velvet giving double-sided-flipability for a change of looks to suit the mood

This vintage family treasure has undergone the full procedure; the saggio, dusty and disintegrating stuffings replaced and @designersguild cotton velvet twirled around delectably to emphasise those curvaceous contours

When your Client (and her Dad) leaps with actual joy upon delivery, it makes your heart absolutely sing

– part of a much loved 70’s family suite has been renewed and reborn with new webbing, foam, stuffings and a liberal sprinkling of pixie dust

An inherited CC41 utility chair with a raggedy cat scratched cover has a newly tailored outfit fitted to show off its sleek curves; and a pouffey pouffe is de-puffed of its muffin-top for a slimmer, contemporary silhouette

Oh how I laughed while stripping this chair, some of the decisions made during the last re-cover were hilarious; thankfully I’ve had some lessons since then :)

This is the very chair in which my mum was fed as a baby and the beginning of my upholstery journey

Full reconstruction surgery & a total bottom rebuild was needed on this little old lady; now, traditionally lashed, hand stitched and finished in a chic cafe au lait, she’s a real Classy Dame
